If a player has enough proof and it's able to be seen by console that a player once owned an item and it's lost to a Server glitch and not a player mistake.
A player mistake would be dropped it into lava or by actions natural to what the player can do, not guis or npcs deleting items when interacted with.
Giving enough proof and staff being able to see it in console should be good enough evidence to receive the item back.
